Duties

The Vice Chancellor serves as the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University, an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, and Chair of the Senate. The Vice Chancellor's duties include, but are not limited to:


Providing visionary leadership and direction for the University
Counseling the Governing Council on matters pertaining to the Institution's finances and administration
Supervising the effective management of the University and ensuring adherence to laws, statutes, and regulations.
Upholding peace, order, and discipline within the University community.
Managing student admissions in line with Senate-approved guidelines and statutory provisions.


Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the position must fulfill the following criteria:

Academic Distinction:


Must have held the rank of Professor for a minimum of ten (10) years by 1st December, 2025.
Must possess an outstanding academic record with notable contributions to research and scholarship.
Must hold a Ph.D in any academic discipline.
Must be a renowned scholar who is a professor of high standing and must have published in academic journals of both National and International repute.
Must have extensive academic and administrative experience
Must be an impartial and dynamic individual with an impeccable reputation in dealings with people at all levels.
Must possess the necessary and relevant managerial experience to provide leadership to the University.
Must have certified excellent physical and mental health.
Must be an individual of proven integrity and honesty.
Must be a proven and excellent manager of resources.


Leadership and Administrative Expertise:


Must demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to drive academic and administrative excellence.


National and International Recognition:


Must be widely respected within the academic community, both nationally and internationally.
Must have a track record of inspiring respect, loyalty, and confidence among staff and students.


Visionary Leadership:


Must have a clear vision for the ongoing development of the University, even in the face of resource constraints.
Must be committed to upholding and advancing the University's mission, vision and core values.
Must be God-fearing.


Merit and Objectivity:


Must be an individual who operates strictly on merit, demonstrating independent thinking and resistance to undue pressure.


Technological Proficiency:


Must be a well-informed and exposed individual possessing skills in communication technology, understanding the implications of ICT in the contemporary knowledge industry.
Must be proficient in utilizing ICT for modern University administration and academic engagement.


Age Requirement:


Must not exceed 65 years of age at the time of assuming office, i.e on 1st December, 2025.


Terms of Service


A Vice-Chancellor shall serve for a single term of 5 years.
The compensation and other terms of service shall be as applicable in Nigerian Federal Universities and/or as may be approved by the University's Governing Council from time to time.
