Overall purpose of the role:
This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the area. The role contributes to the development of area strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to base operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Finance and accounting
Finance Assistant supports the finance office in Sokoto. Supports the preparation of financial statements and maintenance of cash controls.
Works within the financial procedures of DRC, municipal policies and procedures and in compliance with all national acts and legislation.
The Finance assistant supports the Finance Manager with reports for senior management in country.
Reporting
Assist with collecting, reviewing, correcting and filing all financial progress reports from the partners
Support financial report preparations
Submit progress and status reports

Job Requirements
Experience and technical competencies:
Hands-on experience/skills in MS Excel (experience in working with formulas)
Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, proactive and able to accomplish set deadlines.
Willing to meet deadlines with minimum supervision
Autonomous and ready to take initiative to improve within her/his area of responsibility
Fluency in written and spoken English. Fluency in local spoken languages.
Good communication and teamwork spirit
Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)
University degree in Finance/Accounting/Commerce/Business Administration.
At least two years’ work experience in field of finance/accounting/book keeping in an NGO or the commercial sector.
