Job Description

Responsible for managing the finance and accounting function of the business, ensuring the integrity of financial reports and providing strategic leadership to the financial performance of the Company.

Primary Responsibilities

Maintain the books of accounts of the company, ensuring proper accounting treatment of all transactions.
Finalize and issue the monthly management accounts and relevant performance reports for review by executive management.
Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection from customers.
Ensure timely remittance of all statutory deductions to the relevant regulatory bodies.
Monitor the preparation of CBN returns and all necessary regulatory returns and ensure accuracy of the returns.
Manage all audits from CBN and other regulatory bodies and ensure all queries are addressed satisfactorily.
Provide strategic guidance to the executive team, by providing all necessary financial information and analyses, to aid critical business decision making.
Ensure timely payment to suppliers according to the company’s payment policy.
Manage the yearly financial close and issue the financial statements of the company.
Coordinate external audits of the company.
Foster and manage relationships with banks and other relevant financial institutions.
Manage liquidity and highlight liquidity risks and opportunities to the executive management in a timely manner.
Conduct financial planning for the company and recommend initiatives for meeting the liquidity requirements of the business.
Prepare and issue the monthly and annual company-wide budgets for the company.
Keep abreast of industry developments and developments in the finance and accounting practice that may be of interest to the company.
Attend weekly management meetings and contribute insight and information relating to the Company’s financial management.
Make recommendations for the training and development needs of the Finance Department.
Initiate and finalize performance appraisals for all members of the Finance Department.
Any other duties as may be required by the company’s management.

Personal Attributes
Educational Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Accounting or any other related field.
Professional qualification (ICAN or ACCA) is required. Experience
At least 7 years’ Finance and Accounting experience in a financial institution.
Knowledge and skills requirements
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, including the applicable Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the Nigerian environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent analytical and numerate skills
Proficiency in the use of financial reporting software
Ability to multitask and function in a high-pressure environment.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
