Responsibilities

To ensure all vessel comply with the industry standard and specification
Prepare plans and estimates, design construction schedules and contract specifications for OMS Vessels.
Investigate and observe tests on machinery and equipment in compliance with standards.
Co-ordinate the cataloging of ships including Initial/Special, Annual, intermediate Surveys, ISM/ISPS/MLC audits & management, internal audits, pre-loss/valuation & claims surveys, pre-purchase, pre-machinery, pre-hull, pre-condition surveys and quality system management for Engines and Vessels.
Examine and approve design plans for vessel
Inspect construction standards of vessels
Coordinate/witness tests of construction materials, inspecting above waterline section and surveying vessels while paying close attention to hatchways, freeing ports, ventilators, bulkheads, fittings, and attachments, hulls, machinery and equipment during vessel construction to ensure legislative requirements are met.
Conduct surveys on vessel over their lifetime and witnessing tests of emergency and safety machinery and equipment for compliance with operating standards and compliance with standards for protection of crew.
Drive adherence to standard procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
Ensure statutory surveys and certification are carried out where applicable and liaise with Flag or Port State Surveyors.
Ensure service delivery improvement by communicating internal/external client feedback as appropriate and liaising with counterparts to ensure consistency in development and delivery of services and application of best practices.
Observes operating tests on machinery and equipment and inspects opened up machinery for interior condition.
Prepares reports on types of surveys conducted, recommended actions and repairs or conditions remedied.
Examines underwater section of hull while ship is dry-docked to ascertain conditions that indicate repairs are required.
Inspects condition of propellers, rudders, and sea valves. Inspects above waterline section of ship, for example hatchways, freeing ports, ventilators, bulkheads, fittings and attachments for compliance with operating standards and compliance with standards for protection of crew.
Observes testing of vessel gear for compliance with testing standards and issues or endorses certificate for gear tested.
Ensure proper and timely feedback/Report on Surveys conducted.
Coordinates the inspection and test of equipment necessary to achieve the quality delivery to clients.
Champion definition and implementation of all quality and safety procedures for Ocean Marine Solutions
Drive learning within the organisation to ensure crew and stakeholders (including Suppliers/contractors) adhere to global quality, compliance and safety standards
In collaboration with the Technical team, coordinate the process of lifting of all equipment and handle efficient storage of all hazardous materials and perform quality audits as per planned schedule.
Champion all projects relating to Compliance, inspection, safety management and Survey in OMS.
Custodian of all project documentation upon project completion.

Desired Skills and Experience

Master Mariner, Engineer or Scientist (University Degree is an advantage);
Minimum 10 years industry experience as a Marine Surveyor & QA/QC;
Bachelor of Engineering from any reputable University
Strong leadership capability
Project management
Marine Inspection and Survey Quality control
Computer literacy in, MS Office 2010
OVMSA Skills is highly required,
OVID Inspection is a key area and a must.
ISM Auditor and ISO Auditor.
