Job Summary

As Head Tailor, your role is to oversee all tailoring operations, ensure the garments meet the highest quality standards, provide expert alterations, and manage a team of tailors. The ideal candidate must have a keen eye for detail and understand current fashion trends, fabrics, and garment construction.

Responsibilities

Perform complex tailoring tasks, including fitting, cutting, sewing, and altering garments to customer specifications.
Interpret fashion sketches and create garment patterns.
Conduct detailed garment fittings and consultations to understand clients' needs.
Ensure all garments are finished to the highest standard and delivered on time.
Supervise and guide junior tailors and seamstresses, ensuring their work meets company standards.
Train and mentor team members, improving their technical skills and knowledge.
Organize workflow to ensure efficiency and manage workload distribution among the team.
Inspect finished garments to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency in alterations and bespoke creations.
Address and resolve any issues related to garment production or alterations.
Ensure all materials used are of high quality and appropriate for the task.
Handle client complaints or concerns related to alterations or tailoring work.
Maintain equipment, such as sewing machines, and ensure they are in working order.
Ensure smooth integration of tailoring services with sales within the business.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.

Person Specification

Formal training or certification in tailoring or fashion design.
Experience working in high-end fashion or bespoke tailoring.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tailoring, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Expertise in garment construction, alterations, and fabric handling; ability to work with different types of fabrics (e.g., wool, silk, cotton).
Exceptional precision and attention to detail to ensure the highest quality of workmanship.
Up-to-date knowledge of fashion trends, styles, and tailoring techniques
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
