Job Overview:
The ICU Consultant Doctor will be responsible for the overall care and management of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role requires extensive experience in critical care, with a focus on managing complex medical conditions. The ideal candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Lead the clinical management of critically ill patients in the ICU, providing expert care and treatment.
Monitor patients progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures essential to the patients care.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with ICU nurses, specialists, and other medical staff to ensure comprehensive care.
Provide guidance and support to junior doctors and medical staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning.
Participate in ICU rounds, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the ICU, providing rapid assessment and intervention.
Participate in code situations and provide leadership in resuscitative efforts when required.
Patient and Family Communication:
Communicate effectively with patients and their families about treatment plans, risks, and expected outcomes.
Offer compassionate support and information to families during critical situations.
Training and Development:
Contribute to the education and training of medical staff and students within the hospital.
Stay updated on the latest developments in ICU care and integrate new knowledge into daily practice.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all ICU practices meet hospital protocols and regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in line with hospital policies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
Fellowship or equivalent qualification in Intensive Care Medicine or related specialty.
Must be a registered Consultant with experience working in an ICU or critical care unit.
Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience as a Consultant.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to work under pressure and in high-stakes environments.
