Job Summary:

We are seeking experienced and highly skilled ICU Consultants to join our clients dynamic team.
The ideal candidates will be responsible for leading and coordinating comprehensive care for critically ill patients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our ICU services.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:

Provide expert clinical care to critically ill patients in the ICU
Perform daily rounds and continually assess patient conditions
Develop and implement treatment plans for complex cases
Coordinate care with other specialists and healthcare professionals
Ensure timely and appropriate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges

Leadership and Team Collaboration:

Lead and supervise the ICU team, including junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure holistic patient care
Provide clinical guidance and support to ICU staff
Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous learning, and excellence in patient care

Education and Training:

Contribute to the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows
Participate in and lead regular clinical teaching sessions and case conferences
Stay updated with the latest developments in critical care medicine and share knowledge with the team

Quality Improvement and Research:

Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives within the ICU
Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical protocols
Engage in clinical research activities and encourage research participation among team members
Monitor and analyze ICU performance metrics to drive continuous improvement

Administrative Duties:

Participate in ICU management meetings and contribute to strategic planning
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
Assist in managing ICU resources efficiently
Participate in on-call rotations as required

Communication and Family Support:

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognoses
Provide compassionate support to patients and families during critical illness and end-of-life care

Qualifications and Requirements:

Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
Completion of specialty training in Critical Care Medicine
Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) in Internal Medicine with subspecialty training in Critical Care, or equivalent international qualification such as Intensivist / Anaesthetics.
Minimum of 5 years post-fellowship experience in a busy ICU setting
Current medical license to practice in Nigeria
Proven track record of clinical excellence and leadership in critical care
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment
Proficiency in the use of electronic medical records and ICU management software
Experience with mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and other advanced ICU procedures
Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Capability to perform clinical procedures requiring manual dexterity
Visual acuity to read medical charts, diagnostic images, and monitoring equipmen
