Job Summary
An interior designer supervisor is a creative professional who strategically creates and transforms spaces into a functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing space.
He/she will assess space requirements, determine optimal furniture placement, and select decorative items while adhering to relevant blueprint, building code, and inspection requirements.
An Interior Designer supervisor oversees the design and decorative process for both working, living or commercial areas from start to finish. Their main duties include sketching various design plans, determining costs for different projects, and sourcing materials and products for the designs.
Responsibilities
Attend client meetings to understand the design needs and client preferences regarding interior styles
Arranging client visits and keeping everyone involved in the project appraised of its progress
Build a timeline and cost projection for clients
Conceptualize and sketch design plans.
Create 'mood boards' to sample your design vision.
Collaborates with architects, engineers, painters, and builders to further understand how interior space should function, appear, and be furnished.
Ensures project completion within the allocated budget and timeline
Ensures client satisfaction by visiting the project on completion with the client; resolves any complaints or concerns.
Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design.
Overseeing the buying process of all raw materials and items required to complete the project
Oversees the installation of materials, furniture, and other design elements.
Source materials and products included in plans.
Undertake design project from concept to completion and produce “sample” and “mood products”
Works with clients to determine initial goals and requirements for the space to be designed
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Relevant Degree and Certification in Interior Design are required
Proven working experience in decorating interior spaces
Excellent portfolio of previous works
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Illustrator, SketchUp or similar design software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Basic understanding of building codes and inspection regulations related to interiors.
Expertise in layout, color, lighting, materials selection, custom furniture and all installations.
