Position Overview


The Internal Audit position is tasked with executing and overseeing compliance audits across all Wandel international entities.
This role manages the entire audit process—from risk evaluation and planning to execution, reporting, and follow-up—ensuring audits meet high standards and align with the Group Internal Audit Methodology and International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IIA Standards).
The successful candidate plays a crucial role in providing assurance on the effectiveness of compliance frameworks, adherence to policies, and regulatory obligations across the Wandel Group.
This includes evaluating internal policies and control systems, identifying systemic weaknesses, and proposing actionable improvements to enhance governance and risk management.


Additional Responsibilities:


Assist in audit planning and implement risk-based audit procedures.
Spearhead and conduct fieldwork activities, including process walkthroughs, control testing, policy evaluation, and gathering sufficient audit evidence.
Evaluate compliance with internal policies, applicable laws/procedures and contractual obligations.
Utilize data analytics to enhance audit coverage and identify anomalies or red flags.
Contribute to the development and definition of review scopes, propose tailored audit work programs and audit time schedules.
Conduct walkthrough interviews with key stakeholders and test complex / non-routine audit areas including the development and completion of work programs.
Assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting, including identifying control gaps and recommending enhancements.
Work with cross-functional teams to identify control gaps and facilitate the implementation of corrective measures.
Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations and standards to ensure compliance and best practices are integrated into our audit processes.
Craft high-quality audit reports with well-documented findings, root cause analysis, risk implications, and actionable recommendations
Monitor implementation of audit recommendations, validate remedial actions and escalate overdue or ineffective responses
Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field with a minimum of Second Class upper/Upper credit.
Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA or equivalent (or actively pursuing) is preferred.
Must have a minimum of five credits in WASSCE Ordinary Level/NECO subjects or acceptable equivalent examination, including Mathematics and English Language in one sitting only.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in internal audit, risk or advisory roles.
Substantial knowledge of accounting principles, practices, procedures, and generally accepted auditing standards.
Goal-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal and reporting skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
