Job Description
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
This role involves working with various hardware and software systems, providing technical support to end-users, and collaborating with other IT team members to implement and improve IT solutions.
Responsibilities
System Management:
Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and storage systems.
Monitor system performance and ensure the availability and reliability of IT services.
Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
Network Administration:
Manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
Ensure network security by implementing and maintaining security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve network issues and outages.
User Support:
Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues.
Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including setting up user accounts, email, and access permissions.
Conduct training sessions for staff on IT systems and best practices.
Security and Compliance:
Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
Monitor for security breaches and respond to incidents promptly.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Project Management:
Participate in planning and executing IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
Collaborate with vendors and service providers to procure and implement IT solutions.
Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Maintenance and Optimization:
Conduct regular maintenance checks and preventive measures to ensure system health.
Optimize system performance and resource utilization.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT systems administration or a similar role.
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux servers.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies.
Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to system management.
