The successful candidate will manage the daily operations of the engagement team, which includes coordinating two sub-teams and ensuring efficient collaboration and goal achievement. The two sub teams focus on the creation of content and design assets for CfA’s sites, blogs and social media channels, as well as social media management and the promotion of CfA’s in-house talent, events and impact stories.
The role will be for an English-speaking deputy programme manager. Proficiency in local African languages and any additional international languages, such as Arabic or French, will be advantageous.
Required:
- At least five years in a programme management or communication function, preferably within the NGO, media or tech sectors.
- A thorough understanding of digital communication production pipelines, that help the team oversee and improve the development of blogs, graphics, design, video, podcasts and written communications including long and short form copy.
- Experience with knowledge and task management systems such as AirTable or Monday.com.
- Demonstrable experience as a communication manager, and an understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
- A track record of digital campaigns that resulted in increased brand visibility, audience engagement, and measurable impact.
- An understanding of metrics, analytics and tracking tools to measure the success of engagement initiatives.
- Capacity to juggle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment

- Demonstrated ability to establish and nurture strategic partnerships with influencers, organisations, and media outlets for mutual benefit.
- Proven track record of optimising digital campaigns based on performance data, refining strategies for improved outcomes.
- Awareness of and interest in emerging technologies and trends within the digital engagement landscape.
- Ability to manage and respond effectively to communication challenges and crises, maintaining a positive brand image.
- Familiarity with tools and methods that leverage Generative AI technologies.
