As our principal designer, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all technical aspects of architectural and engineering projects. This includes directing the design team, reviewing drafts and computer models, and approving design modifications.
You will also be tasked with managing client expectations and facilitating clear communication with stakeholders at various levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design
Develop design methodologies that enhance the creation and solution processes
Shape design approaches and guide focus areas to uncover hidden needs
Envision and steer design creation processes to yield innovative solutions
Oversee work processes and address unexpected issues to ensure optimal performance
Spearhead research into emerging technologies and design trends to inform long-term design decisions
Assess technological advancements and current technical limitations to develop strategies for achieving desired design outcomes
Create methods to evaluate the practicality and feasibility of current design processes
Effectively communicate design options to gain stakeholder approval
3D Modeling
Implement new processes that leverage 3D modeling technologies to boost efficiency and effectiveness
Establish conflict resolution protocols
Introduce new maintenance processes that incorporate 3D modeling technologies
Verify that procedures and operations are executed according to plan and WSH requirements
Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of 3D modeling in maintenance processes
Design Standards and Specifications
Supervise and inspect designs to ensure compliance with relevant design standards, quality benchmarks, and established policies and regulations
Oversee design policies and procedures for compliance purposes
Coordinate quality management reviews during the design development phase
Manage comprehensive quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews and checks to ensure adherence to design standards
Design and Aesthetic Sensibility
Establish overarching conceptual frameworks to define the organization's aesthetic sense and link aesthetics to overall organizational success
Guide the development of comprehensive brand identities for products, ensuring consistency of brand elements across all product and service offerings
Identify desired experiences associated with specific aesthetic styles
Create an overarching aesthetic vision for the organization's creative design work
Integrate deeper brand identities and philosophies into product design aesthetics
Lead the creation of visually appealing products that leave lasting impressions on audiences
Initiate research activities to uncover principles behind user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing designs
Develop art direction for new aesthetics, expressions, and forms in design projects and creative work
Design for Safety, Sustainability, and Maintainability
Develop comprehensive conceptual frameworks to define the organization's aesthetic sense and correlate aesthetics with overall organizational success
Oversee the creation of cohesive brand identities for products, ensuring consistency across all product and service lines
Specify desired experiences associated with particular aesthetic styles
Formulate an overarching aesthetic vision for the organization's creative design endeavors
Incorporate deeper brand identities and philosophies into product design aesthetics
Spearhead the development of visually striking products that create lasting impressions on audiences
Conduct research to uncover principles behind aesthetically pleasing designs for users
Establish art direction for new aesthetics, expressions, and forms in design projects and creative work
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a BSc in Architecture; a master's degree is advantageous
8-10 years of experience in a similar role
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Illustrator, or other relevant design software
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Impressive portfolio of previous work
Creative talent, imagination, and keen eye for design
Strong communication and presentation abilities
Proficient project management skills
