Stay current: Stay up to date on beauty trends and best practices 
Communicate: Communicate with clients, other crew members, and costume designers 
Adhere to regulations: Follow health and safety regulations 
Maintain tools: Keep makeup tools and products in check 


Skills and qualifications 


Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Artistic personality
Knowledge of different color palettes and design styles
Understanding of technical makeup skills, such as shading, blending, and building
Ability to work independently and with others


Education


Makeup artists may have a diploma from a vocational school in cosmetology or makeup.
