Objectives:

The Manager of Programme Design and Development is a pivotal role within MSI Nigeria’s programme department. This position is crucial for securing new donor funding to support the strategic expansion of our country programme. The manager collaborates with the technical team, the New Business Development (NBD) team, and MSI’s global support team to design programmes and develop successful proposals. The role also involves leading strategic fundraising efforts and diversifying MSI Nigeria’s funding base.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal Development: Independently manage all aspects of single- and multi-country proposal development, including technical writing, coordination, and adherence to MSI requirements.
Partnership Development: Manage partner mapping and funding opportunity positioning, lead partnership discussions and negotiations, and represent MSI Nigeria at external meetings.
Donor Relations: Manage donor mapping and communications, ensuring MSI Nigeria’s visibility to both existing and potential donors.
Fundraising Strategy: Contribute to developing, implementing, and reviewing MSI Nigeria’s new business development goals and strategies.
Diaspora Funding: Lead the development and implementation of a strategy for securing funding from the Nigerian diaspora.
Opportunity Identification: Identify and pursue funding opportunities, maintain fundraising action plans, and represent MSI Nigeria in donor meetings.
Systems Improvement: Lead or contribute to the development of tools, systems, and strategies for tracking and pursuing new business opportunities and managing institutional knowledge.
Team Capacity Building: Mentor and train team members to enhance their ability to develop competitive proposals and engage in proactive fundraising.

Experience:

Relevant master’s degree (MPH, MA, MBA) or equivalent.
4-7 years of experience in business development within international development or the humanitarian sector.
Experience in proposal writing and development for institutional donors, including USAID.
Proven experience in managing complex proposal processes with multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines.
Experience in strategic planning and programmatic design.
Experience in developing and reviewing budgets.
Experience in managing heavy and fluctuating workloads.
Experience in working with statistical and financial data.
Proven experience in representing the organization with donors and stakeholders.
Proven experience leading partnership discussions and negotiations.
