Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our auto repair workshop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the workshop's activities, including auto parts inventory, vehicle repairs, inspections, customer service, and financial management. The Workshop Manager will ensure that the workshop runs efficiently, maintains profitability, and delivers high customer satisfaction. Intensive experience in automobiles, car parts, and workshop management is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Operations Management:
Oversee all day-to-day activities within the workshop, from minor tasks to major repairs.
Ensure that all vehicle repairs, services, and inspections are conducted promptly and to the highest standards.
Coordinate the procurement, storage, and distribution of auto parts, tools, and equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines.
Team Leadership & Development:
Manage and supervise workshop staff, including mechanics, technicians, and administrative personnel.
Delegate tasks to team members according to their expertise and ensure a smooth workflow.
Provide training and mentorship to staff to enhance their skills and efficiency.
Customer Service:
Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed professionally.
Handle customer complaints, provide estimates for repairs, and ensure all work is completed to customer satisfaction.
Manage the customer appointment schedule, ensuring timely service delivery.
Inventory & Auto Parts Management:
Monitor inventory levels of auto parts, tools, and supplies to ensure the workshop is well-stocked at all times.
Liaise with suppliers to negotiate prices and maintain strong relationships to source quality parts at competitive prices.
Implement inventory control systems to reduce waste and manage costs effectively.
Financial Management:
Track daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and expenses.
Ensure the workshop operates within budget while maintaining profitability.
Provide regular financial reports and analysis to the upper management.
Ensure accurate invoicing and timely payments from customers.
Quality Control:
Maintain high standards of workmanship in all repairs and services provided by the workshop.
Conduct regular quality checks on completed jobs to ensure all repairs meet company and industry standards.
Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Reporting & Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, parts inventory, and financial transactions.
Provide regular reports on workshop performance, customer satisfaction, and financial status.
Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and timely for auditing and reporting purposes.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience (5+ years) as a Workshop Manager or in a similar role within the automotive industry.
Strong knowledge of automobiles, car parts, and mechanical repairs.
Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and mentor staff.
Solid understanding of financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and profit analysis.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle complaints and manage customer relationships effectively.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to handle the daily operations of the workshop.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in workshop management software and basic computer skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in Automotive Engineering, Mechanics, or a related field is an advantage.
Experience with inventory management and procurement of auto parts.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
