Job Title: Procurement Officer (Experienced)

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Role / Objectives

  • The ideal candidate will ensure procurement activities are conducted within budget, in line with the company’s procurement policies, and with an emphasis on vendor reliability, cost-efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

Position Overview / Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a diverse and reliable vendor pool across various locations.
  • Coordinate product delivery logistics with suppliers, importers, transport companies, and internal teams (Plant and Workshop).
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, evaluate procurement requests, and maintain up-to-date supplier information.
  • Call for quotations, evaluate bids, and award contracts to competitive and reliable vendors.
  • Monitor, examine, and re-evaluate existing contracts to optimize value and compliance.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and support data-driven procurement decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of specifications and expectations for each purchase.
  • Analyze market trends and identify changes in supplier/client negotiating positions.
  • Anticipate potential risks or unfavorable procurement events and develop control strategies.
  • Promote cost control and foster a culture of long-term savings in procurement processes.

Qualification / Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain roles.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier/vendor management systems and procurement tools.
  • Membership of a professional procurement organization body such as CIPS or NCIPSM is an added advantage
  • Strong analytical thinking and a proactive approach to sourcing and negotiation.
  • A forward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate future product or service needs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Effective relationship management and interpersonal skills.
